Accessibility on this website

This site was built to be usable with a keyboard, with a screen reader, at large text sizes and on a small phone. Here is what that means in practice — and how to tell us when it falls short.

What we aimed for

This website has been designed and built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA as far as is practical. That is the standard we designed against; it is a statement of intent and effort, not a certification, and this site has not been independently audited.

The Trip Manager application that schools sign in to is a separate product and is not covered by this page. Ask the Education Host team about accessibility in the application itself.

How the site is built for access

  • Keyboard first. Every link, button and FAQ answer can be reached and operated with the keyboard alone, in an order that matches the visual layout. There are no keyboard traps.
  • Visible focus. Whatever has keyboard focus is marked with a clear outline that is never removed.
  • Skip to content. A “Skip to main content” link is the first thing a keyboard user reaches, so the navigation can be jumped past.
  • Semantic structure. Real headings in a logical order, real lists, real buttons and named landmark regions, so screen readers and reader modes can navigate the page.
  • Colour contrast. Body text, headings and interactive controls were checked against their backgrounds to meet or exceed the WCAG AA contrast thresholds.
  • Colour is never the only signal. Status and meaning are always carried in words as well.
  • Generous targets. Buttons, links in the navigation and FAQ controls are at least 44 by 44 pixels, with space between them.
  • Text alternatives. Product screenshots and other meaningful images have descriptive alternative text. Decorative icons are hidden from assistive technology so they are not announced as noise.
  • Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, the small fade-in effects are switched off and content appears immediately.
  • No hover-only information. Nothing is revealed only by hovering a mouse.
  • Resizes and reflows. The layout works down to a 320-pixel-wide screen without horizontal scrolling, and text can be enlarged or zoomed without content being lost. Pinch-zoom is not disabled.
  • Works without JavaScript. With JavaScript switched off, every FAQ answer is simply shown open and the navigation links are all visible. No content is lost.
  • The page language is declared as British English, so screen readers use the right pronunciation.

What we have tested

Before publishing, the site was checked for:

  • Keyboard-only navigation of the whole page, including the mobile menu and the FAQ accordion
  • Visible focus on every interactive control
  • Correct aria-expanded state on the menu button and the FAQ controls
  • Layout at 320, 375, 768, 1024 and 1440 pixels wide, with no horizontal scrolling
  • Colour-contrast ratios for text and interface colours
  • Behaviour with reduced motion enabled
  • Behaviour with JavaScript disabled

Known limitations

  • The site has not been independently audited, and has not been tested with every combination of screen reader and browser.
  • Product screenshots show the current web and iOS interfaces with demonstration content. Their text alternatives summarise the purpose of each screen; the surrounding copy describes the features in readable text.
  • The “Book a demo”, “Request pricing” and “Contact” links lead to educationhost.co.uk, which is a separate website with its own accessibility position.

Tell us about a problem

If something here is hard to use, we want to know — please say which page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what got in the way. It helps to know the browser and any assistive technology you were using.

Still to be published. A dedicated address for accessibility reports, and the target response time we commit to, will be published here before launch. Until then, please use the Education Host contact page below — your report will still reach the Trip Manager team.

Until that address is published, please use the Education Host contact page and mark your message for the attention of the Trip Manager team.

Statement prepared: the preparation date will be published here once the contact details above are added.
